Hello to all

February 22nd, 2003 · No Comments

My name is Kally Patrick. I’m 50 years old and have Type 1
diabetes. I live in Eastern Kentucky. I’m glad I joined this group
because you all may help me to achieve my goals and get my diabetis
controlled.
I have a question for the group. I take Novolin twice a day, 50
units of a morning and 35 units at night. Because it still hasn’t
really controlled my sugar (i’m to blame somewhat, lol) my doctor
also added advantia twice each day. So I take that at lunchtime and
before bed to separate the two types of diabetis meds and get the
control I need.
When I took my noon reading (before the advantia) it read 209. Ok, I
figured the advantia would lower it more so I took it. However,
while waiting for dinnertime, I had one of the low carb brownie bars
from Atkins. Well, I just read my sugar level and it soared back to
280. Does anyone know if these kind of desserts have sugar even

though it says it doesn’t? It has something called maltodextrine and
cocoa powder in it. If I find out that there are sugars in these
ingredients, I’ll have to give the bars back to my friend. kally
