Hi Everyone…

Well went to dr and I’m on the pill 2pills 2 times a day, and starting a diet I have a question..

The doctor said these pills make your blood more sensitive to insulin , should I have been put on a no sugar diet?

The pills have a warning that I should have a medic alert neck..

Thanks in advance

Oh, Kate. I forgot to ask, do you have a blood glucose monitor? (or as some call it, blood sugar monitor). That is very important for all diabetics to have. You need to keep track of your blood glucose (used to be called blood sugar) at home. Most doctor’s have you do it at least once a day. Especially now that you are on medication. Being that you are on both oral diabetic medication and insulin. I take Lantus myself. I started on 20 units, but was raised to 26 and I see my diabetic specialist this Monday (the 11th) to see how my A1c is (that is a test that lets them know how your blood glucose has done over the past three months). Besides the Lantus I also take Glucotrol (it stimulates the pancreas to help it produce it’s own insulin, anyway that’s the way the doc said was a simple explanation of it) and I take 2mg of Avandia (it is a blood glucose lowering medication). When I first was diagnosed diabetic I was on Glucophage and Metforman (which is the generic of
Glucophage) but after a while started having an adverse reaction to them. Not really life threatening, but got tired of living in the bathroom and the cost of all the toilet paper ;-)
    Best wishes,

    Sue
