out to dinner

August 20th, 2004 · 1 Comment

went out for dinner tonight for the 1st time since getting diagnosed 3 weeks ago…I ate I thought good..filet mignon…green beans …salad with blue cheese and maybe 3 teaspoons of mashed potatoes and diet coke with 2 cups of coffee after dinner…tested at 87 before leaving to go out and tested 2 hours later and it was 163..is this normal ? Did I do something wrong?

It is normal to have a “spike” about 1-2 hours after eating. Just check it again
within an hour or two and see if it has went back down. Then you will know if it
is just the spike. Sometimes our doctor will have us take our bg about 2 hours
after a meal to see how much we are spiking.
    Hope that helps.
    Love and best wishes,
    Sue
