Hi. After hearing that the at home A1c test was not reliable for someone else, I then was curious about how it would do for me. I did get one and used it this morning. I did find it was not as easy as they implied, but did finally get it done (was not extremely hard, but just not as “simple as 1,2,3″). It showed 7.1, which in their graph of what is and is not ok, the 7’s are “controlled” diabetes. Their graph showed 6 and below as “normal”, not meaning you don’t have diabetes (especially if you were diabetic and have improved) , then it listed 8 - 12 as “out of control” diabetes. I’m not sure how they came up with their scale/graph. I know both my primary care and my diabetic specialist consider you diabetic starting at 6. Mild diabetic, but enough to need to follow diabetic eating and to put you on medication.
Anyway. We see our diabetic specialist on Monday, Oct. 3 and we both needed to get our lab A1c’s done to have the results back to the doctor by then. Since I did the at home test, we went this morning (shortly after doing the at home) and had our blood drawn for the lab A1c’s. Will know on Monday what they showed.
Will send you guys the results of how my experience went on the accuracy.
I hope Monday gets here soon, as I said, I am really curious about it.
Love and best wishes,
Sue
