Well, I see my endocrinologist today for my regular diabetic check up. He will have the results of the A1c done by the lab. I’ll get to see how it compares to the at home test I did on the same day. Am interested in finding out what the comparison is. Will let you all know what turns out. Of course I have no idea when I’ll be back home, as sometimes (rarely) they get me almost right in and other times I can set an hour or more past my appointment time waiting to get in. Doctors, don’t ya just love them? Well, really I know it isn’t them, the office staff always double books so I guess it is more them than the doctor. So I guess it is hard to get everyone in on time when you have two patients booked for the same appointment time for the doctor to see.
Love and best wishes,
Sue

Similar thing happened to me once. After I’d waited over an hour for
an 8:30 appt., I marched myself up to the receptionist desk and told
them to be ready to call 911 because my BGs were getting dangerously low
and besides that I might throw up right in the waiting room. Right away
they took me back, drew the blood and gave me some orange juice and a
couple of crackers. Turned out there was a serious problem that morning
with another patient but they DO need to pay attention to those waiting
and at least tell them about it. And there is no reason to delay drawing
the blood unless the lab is not functioning.
Don’t wait like this again. Your time - and health - is as valuable as
anyone else’s. If you have to wait frequently for a ridiculously long
time for a doctor, there’s something seriously wrong at that office in
the way they schecule patients. I once had to explain politely why I
was changing to someone else who was able to keep to schedule better.
There are lots of bod-fixit shops all over town which have more respect
for their patients.
Why did you have to wait until after seeing the Dr. to get the blood
drawn for a fasting test? They could do that when you first arrive so
you could have a snack. Always take a snack when you go out anywhere.
Hope you had good results from that test!
