Hi, I am new to the group. I have a question. I have a parent, sister, and daughter with Type 2 diabetes.
I did a thing on the national diabetic page and I am over the top in regards to predisposed to get diabetes.
I requested a glucose tolerance test from my doctor, instead he said I have to see a nutritionist and do blood testing for two weeks….. .
What is the gold standard to detect and find out if one actually has diabetes?? I know I am insulin resistant, I can’t eat carbs hardly at all…..bloat, swell, and am generally sick sick sick….. but not sure what they do to my blood sugars… I have been having very dry mouth and some eye problems, and I am also having troubles with shakiness and nausea and dizziness.
Why would they not do a glucose T T on me?? Do you suppose?? According to the Diabetic ASSoc page that is what should be done.
The nurse said it was “less invasive” to do the 2-3 weeks of blood testing first. hmmm?? Confused to pieces here. dash
