Hi…my name is Leigh and I am new to the group. I was diagnosed with
type 1 back in 1993. I was put on the insulin pump 2 years ago since 6-
12 shots a day wasn’t working. My best friend was diagnosed with type
2 last week. I dont know all that much about type 2. He is taking 2
500mg of Metformin a day and his sugars are still crazy. Does it take
time to work?? Right now his blood sugars are over 600. When mine get
high…I pump insulin. don’t know what to tell him to do except to
drink lots of water. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be really
grateful!!!!
Take care of yourselves and those you love

I have to agree. That high definetly go see the doctor. Welcome to our group. I’m Roseanne from Windsor Ontario Canada. I just turned 54 on October 2nd. I’m type two going on two years this February was the diagnosed. I take metformin twice and day and diamicron for the diabetes and monopril for high blood pressure. It took almost a year and a half to get the blood sugar levels downt o where they are suppose to be. Every now and then they go up due to certain foods I eat and stress
blood sugar. Chat soon.

You are welcome. My doctor and dietician approved Richard Simmon’s food mover for me and since following his way of eating in the late 70’s to now I’ve gone from 295 pounds down to the current 145 pounds. He wants me to try to lose another 45 for leway. It will take a bit of time for the medication to work. I started on diet controlled and then diamicron and now both the diamicorn and metformin and my monopril has been going on for about 3 years now. My mom had it as well. Oh my if that is going on I would be changing doctor’s by now if I were him. You have to try to avoid stress too with the type 1. My mom up till her death 14 years ago from heart attacks was taking 45 units of beef/pork insulin once a day. My Aunts took the insulin too. I’m just glad that the pills are working for now and hope they continue to work. Don’t think I could handle the needles. Take care. Chat soon.
Love Roseanne
