Do you like the metmorfin? When I took it after child birth, and the gestational diabetes went to type 1, but we tried controling my diabetes in that short time span with Metmorfin. It made me lose weight also, but not in a good way. I got severe diarreah with it, and the abdominal pain was awful. I dont know if it does anything for metabolism. –Linda–

It is my understanding that Metformin works by attaching to the carbs from the food we eat & removing them from the body. If you are taking in too many carbs, this could result in diarreah (I have personal experience here!). It is also rough on the stomach & should be taken with food or milk. As far as I know it has no effect on the metabolism.

I found that after like 10 years on it, if I eat too much lettuce i
will still get “the runs” but normally I have no trouble.
Metformin is not meant to control type 1 diabetics as they need insulin.

Maybe they want you to tell the doc when you take tylenol or motrin
because they along with metformin can be hard on the liver.
