  This is my 2nd Holiday season. I have type 2 & don’t require insulin. With all those great dishes it is soo hard to be good. I try to load up on veggies to fill me up. I am not the only diabetic at the table, but the other guy is my step-granddad & he is almost 90, eats whatever he wants, & always has a beer with dinner. So, he isn’t much help! I don’t deny myself of the dishes I love best (such as my mom’s cornbread dressing) but I don’t load up on all I see. Everyone is very supportive, but I can’t seem to make them understand that I don’t want a glass of sugar-sweetened tea or a regular coke, so I bring my own diet sodas:) And, of course, I monitor my levels.

  It can be a tough time of year to be diabetic, but I am looking forward to it (cornbread dressing-here I come!!). I hope you have a safe & happy Thanksgiving!!

  Hi This is my first year that I have diabetes for the holidays and i
  was wondering if you all watch what you eat for thanksgiving and
  christmas.I have a feeling this is going to be hard for me cause i
  love all the food we have at the holidays.im the only one in my family
  that has diabetes and everyone is asking me if im going to eat all the
  good food that they have.I’m really not sure what i can eat.Please any
  advice will help.
