Good evening all. I have only been home a few hours.
The heart catheterization went ok. They were late on starting it, but that is pretty much normal for hospitals. My own cardiologist did the cath, so I felt much better than if a stranger had done it. I am so tired. They gave me some med as they started the procedure to help me “relax”. I wish it could have been more. It did not help relax that much. The doc also gave me local where the needle and wire went in (groin into the femoral artery), but as he explained, that area just is not possible to get totally numb. So it hurt like all get out when he put that huge needle in and then threaded the wire in. He did stop and give me more local. It has worn off and “wow”, it hurts. Also I have back problems and can not lay in a bed. After the procedure I had to lay at least 6 hours in bed with a sand bag on the area for weight to help it clot and stop any bleeding. My back was killing me so they gave me a demerol shot and it helped for a couple hours, then they did give me one more.
So between the pain, and the after effects of the demerol, I am not at my best. Plus I have Vicodin to take here at home for the pain. I took one as soon as I got home and am waiting for 1:00 a.m. to get here so I can take another one for the pain. Sorry for going on and on. The pain med does that to me. Oh, before I forget, the cath found noting bad. It was ok. Big relief here.
Well, I have been here too long and the pain is getting to me. Starting to see little stars, so should get back to my recliner.
Love,
Sue
