Ouch

Anyone got any suggestions for my shots? I found I have to move doing my insulin injections from my abdomen. The doctor’s assistant said the reason it sometimes leaks back out and why I have started getting like cramps at the injection site, is that the abdomen has been used too long and too much. She said go to a new site. I can’t reach my upper arms nor my backside, so that leaves my thighs. I am doing the upper thighs and on the outer sides of them (not the fronts, or inner sides and of course can’t reach behind). Most of the time putting the needle in hurts (which it very seldom hurt on the belly), I seem to be more likely to get a bleeder (I do use the alcohol swab and put light pressure on the injection site - per instructions of doc and the pen manufacturer), and about half the time the site will itch (like a mosquito bite) after injecting. I have to give my shots to myself, as hubby won’t touch a needle for anything. No way would he do them for me. I have both kinds
of insulin in the cartridge/pen system so they are easy to use. Swab the injection site with alcohol pad, use alcohol pad to wipe end of the cartridge/pen, screw on needle head, dial up the amount and good to go from there. I’ve only been using my legs since yesterday and am so tired of the problems with them already. The needles are the shortest and thinnest you can get.

Thanks all,

Sue
