glucose and heart?

October 16th, 2006 · No Comments

Does anyone know if your glucose level can affect your heart. I know the diabetes can cause heart problems, and I am not talking about that. I mean if it goes way up, can it cause irregular heart beats, flutters, and you feel all the time like you are breathless (as if you just ran a whole bunch and are out of breath)? I am sure my glucose is up, way up, but can’t find my monitor to test. I have been having all the listed above things going on. I do have a heart condition that sometimes those things happen, but only on a once in a while basis. This has been continuous for the out of breath feeling and the irregular and/or flutters are happening several times a day. I have not had them go on this much and this long. I did over stress my heart a couple days ago and it started that night, but have over stressed my heart before and not had the stuff go on like this. Also before when I have gotten the flutter, if I inhaled really deep, bared down and held it (barded down like
when having a bathroom movement), then slowly let the breath out, it would stop the flutters. Now it doesn’t. I had to do it three times in a row last night to stop them. I don’t know what is going on. It has lasted long enough that it has me very concerned. With my glucose being way up there, I just wondered if it could be causing the stuff. I know my glucose is way off, cause for the past week, I have missed some of my insulin. I have had it do that thing that when I inject it, it doesn’t all go in and runs back out around the needle head, or will run out of the injection site. And have been “thinking” impaired enough that I have forgotten a shot now and then also. Now that is not normal for me. One day I only got two out of my four shots.

Thanks,

Sue
