Whew, I am tired! Met with the rheumatologist today. Was there from 11:00 a.m. until they were done with me at 2:30 p.m. Lots of questions, tests, exams and so on. He never did say “yes” or “no” about fibro. If he did the touch test, it was very very light touching. I do mean touch, no pressing, but light touch. But he did do a lot more other things: twisted my legs in all kinds of directions (went for knee pain besides asking about fibro/cfs), checked reflex points, push against him, pull against him, do not let him lift something, do not let him push something down, pin stick in all kinds of places, and so much more I can’t remember. Did give me a shot of cortisone in my right elbow (tendonitis) and after the knee x-rays gave me one in the right knee. Ouch! But not as bad as I have had with other stuff. Oh, yeh, got to sit with little papers strip in each eye (eye closed over it) for tear production. Checked for “shone’s” disease (am clueless on the spelling, sounded like
show but with an “n” on the end). He is also going to have tests done for lupus, and a few other things. Go tomorrow morning first thing for fasting blood test. Go over Thursday at 10:45 for MRI of knees and CT of knees and pelvis. And other things MRI wise and CT wise. See him in three weeks (Dec. 27) for results of the tests. I ache, my knee and elbow are sore (he said can take about 12 -24 hours for the shot to kick in) and I also ache all over in general from all of the exam, etc. Oh, yeh, and he removed some fluid from the knee for testing. He had a hard time finding fluid, which he said is not a good thing. I made hubby come in an see the syringe and needle that was used for the knee. He about had a fit when Dr. Uchiyama used a normal size for the elbow. I told hubby I expect to get some good mileage out of the guilt of what I had to endure (with the size of needle and syringe for the knee). Doc and the staff got a good laugh out of that. Of course was kidding around.
Just like when doc said tendonitis is more commonly called “tennis elbow” but he knows mine is not from that; I told him yes, but that is my right elbow and I am right handed and use that arm when smacking hubby around. He got another good laugh. I told him that after almost 34 years of marriage, if you don’t joke, you’d probably kill each other. The office gals liked that one. LOL
Off to take a stiff pain pill (no extra strength tylenol is going to handle this) and try to get a bit of sleep even.
