1. Eggnog or Hot Chocolate? Depends on my mood, I love them both
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Wrapped
3. Colored lights/one color (note it) on tree ? Colored. I grew up when they were the big bulbs, and if one burned out the whole string went out, and then every bulb had to be tried with a new one to find the “bad” bulb and be able to have the lights lit. Oh, and no blinking lights for my tree. Also love bubble lights (another childhood thing)
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Used to, but not anymore
5. When do you put your decorations up? No earlier than two weeks before Christmas.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Oh, too many to be able to pick only one.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Going to pick out and then cut the Christmas tree to bring home. It had to be just right (back then they did not “shape” the trees so they would be the perfect shape and were completely natural) and mom always wanted a really tall one (the ceilings in the old house were like 12 feet tall). Dad would stand next to the tree mom wanted and would say, “Betty, I am 5′11″ and this tree is three times as tall as I am, it won’t fit.”. But mom would get her way and we’d bring the tree home, only to have dad end up having to cut a bunch off the bottom (and usually a few branches) so it would fit, cause it would be too tall (this happened every year. LOL). We all laughed about that later in life, and now that mom and dad are gone, it is still a good one to remember.
8. When or how did you learn the truth about Santa? I really don’t remember.
9. Do you open a gift before the 24th? If it is something that has come by mail, we will sometimes open it.
10. How do you decorate your Tree? Lights, garland, then the decorations. When we had real trees, always put tinsel on as the last thing. But no tree this year, too depressing this close to Blackberry dieing.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Oh, love snow. Grew up with snow a lot in the winters and that is an important part of winter.
12. Can you ice skate? Nope.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Have gotten too many wonderful ones to only remember one.
14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? First that is a celebration of Jesus’ birth. Then giving to others. And family, but mom and dad are gone now, as is both of hubby’s parents, and my brother’s wife will not allow him to have anything to do with family and our son quit having anything to do with us after he found his biological mother about 5 years ago.. So, it is hubby and I and our furkids at Christmas.
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Pumpkin pie, but my mom’s was the best.
16. What’s your favorite Holiday Tradition? When mom and dad were still alive and always being with them on Christmas day.
17. What tops your tree? Depends from year to year. I alternate between an angel and star.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Giving of course!
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Too many to pick.
20. Candy Canes!! Yuck or Yum? The peppermint is too strong of a taste.
21. What is your favorite Christmas movie? Can’t pick only one. My gosh, so many good ones.
22. Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman or Charlie Brown? Got to be Rudolph. I grew up when Gene Autrey sang the original “Rudolph , The Red Nose Reindeer”. Loved it so much, my mom or dad had to sing it to me all year around every night for me to be able to go to sleep.
